What's on offer

Get your contraceptive pill from the pharmacy

Through the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, our pharmacist can supply oral contraception directly β€” whether you're starting for the first time or need to continue a pill you're already on.

  • Combined pill β€” start a new supply or continue your current one
  • Progestogen-only pill (mini-pill) β€” start or continue
  • Ongoing repeat supplies β€” come back to us when you need more
  • Free on the NHS β€” there's nothing to pay

The pharmacist will discuss which option is most suitable for you and can also signpost you to other contraception (such as coils, implants or emergency contraception) if that's a better fit.

A quick, private check

For your safety, the pharmacist carries out a short assessment during your consultation, which may include:

  • A few questions about your health & medical history
  • A blood pressure check
  • Height & weight (BMI) β€” mainly for the combined pill
Easy as 1‑2‑3

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I really not need an appointment?

That's right β€” this is a walk-in service. Simply come in during our opening hours and ask to speak to the pharmacist about the contraception service. You're welcome to call ahead on 01282 423526 if you'd like to check the pharmacist is available.

Is it really free?

Yes. The NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service β€” including the consultation and your pill supply β€” is free of charge.

Can I start the pill for the first time here?

Yes. The pharmacist can start you on a new supply of the combined pill or the progestogen-only (mini) pill, as well as continue a pill you're already taking.

Is the consultation private?

Absolutely. We have a private consultation room so you can talk openly and confidentially with our pharmacist.

What if the pill isn't right for me?

The pharmacist will talk through your options and, if another method (such as a coil or implant) would suit you better, will signpost you to the right service. We can also help with emergency contraception if you need it urgently.
